The process of purchasing an ISBN barcode from Barcode World
The rate for one ISBN barcode is R 275 and includes the number as well as the image in high-resolution Jpeg, Tiff and EPS formats. The more barcode numbers you need to purchase, the lower the rate per barcode drops - contact us if you need to purchase more than one barcode as each version or edition of your book requires its own unique ISBN number.
If however, you only need the barcode number without the image in order to sell your book online, the rate for one ISBN barcode number is R 156.
Once purchasing an ISBN from us, we will request proof of payment as well as your acceptance of our terms and conditions. We will also need a few pieces of information from you, as outlined below.
What do we need from you?
In order for us to send you your ISBN number and process the ISBN request, we need certain pieces of information from you which you can provide us with through our application forms (application forms are sent to customers via email). These are:
- Title of the publication
- Name and address of publisher (or self-publisher)
- Contact details – contact person, physical and/or postal address, telephone and/or cell phone numbers, fax number if available, and email address
- Inform us whether the publication in physical format and if there is also an electronic version?
Once we receive this information along with your proof of payment and you have accepted our terms and conditions, Barcode World sources an ISBN number for you, which usually takes approximately 3 working days. Once the barcode number is received, we can send it straight to you within one working day via email. Included in the email are the high-resolution images of your barcode number in Jpeg, Tiff and EPS formats.
The ISBN number then belongs to you and your company for life and we require no further payments from you.
Please note...
By law, and once your book has been printed, you are required to submit 5 free copies of your book to the National Library's 'Areas of Legal Deposit' in South Africa. This step ensures that the ISBN can be permanently assigned and added to the global database. Do not hesitate to ask us questions about this process.
If you plan to sell your book to both physical and online stores, keep in mind that some online stores require a unique barcode number.
